A unique mineral, Aegirine forms in dark green to black prismatic crystals. Aegirine was named after the Norse god of the sea, Ægir. Aegirine, also known as Acmite, occurs in alkaline volcanic rocks and is found in Greenland, Russia, Canada and the United States.
